Excursions from the Pünthof Mansion in Algund

Active holidays in the heart of South Tyrol

Nature in South Tyrol: from the Mediterranean landscapes to eternal ice. Merano and Environs offer countless opportunities for nature enthusiasts.

The valley floor is dotted with orchards, vineyards and gardens. The Mediterranean vegetation and the enchanting view of the city have made the Tappeiner Walk popular worldwide. Beautiful Waalwege trails lead along the old irrigation channels and connect the villages along the ancient mountain irrigation system. Vellau, Tisens, Völlan, Tirol und Hafling welcome travelers with easy hiking trails running through the lower mountain ranges.

Five cable cars lead directly up to the mountains: to the Merano High Mountain Trail, the Ifinger and Hirzer hiking areas, the Meran 2000 recreational area and the Vigiljoch Mountain. The pristine Alpine valleys of Ulten and Passeier are crossed by mountain streams, leading up to the highest rocky summits and snow-capped mountains of the Texel Group and the upland Spronser Lakes, which mark a sharp contrast with the valley floor where orange, lime and oleander trees decorate the beautiful walkways.
